George Mathai graduated in Architecture from Department of Architecture, College of Engineering, Trivandrum in the year 1985. He completed his B.Arch with first class and was placed as topper in his thesis project, “The urban design guidelines for Kowdiar Museum Avenue, Trivandrum”. This project was showcased for public viewing in the city as per directives of TRIDA and the citizens forum.
He is a member of the Indian Institute of Architects(IIA), Institute of Indian Interior Designers(IIID) and Council of Architecture (COA). He served as honorary secretary of IIA, Cochin centre, Executive committee member, IIA, Kerala chapter and Chairman, IIA, Cochin centre at various periods.
George Mathai worked with Architect Bharat Bansal, a Harvard graduate, on various urban design projects in New Delhi during the period 1987 to 1990.
He served as director of Synthite properties and Investments Ltd, a Synthite group company from year 1993 to 2000 engaging in large scale property development projects, leisure and resort development initiatives etc. He was the principal architect in the company’s development projects while also involved with business development and project management affairs.
In year 2001, George Mathai commenced operations of Terrafirm Projects P Ltd, a firm focusing on Architecture, Landscape and Interior design consulting. Since then Terrafirm has been principal architectural consultants for a variety of high profile projects in and outside the state of Kerala. The firm has been noted for its quality works rather than quantity and hence Terrafirm has been deliberately choosy in its selection of works.
Some select projects which have received high acclaim and architectural appreciation are Riviera Suites Apartment hotel & Riviera Retreat, MOSC Medical college, Vidyodaya Public School, Ramada Resort – Five star deluxe property, IBS Software corporate office, IBS House, Triveni Sangamam tourism concept Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere – Five star deluxe property, Synthite R & D centre, Synthite corporate office and numerous high profile Residences, Interiors and factory buildings.
All projects are designed with distinct style, unique architectural vocabulary and many have been rated as green buildings by IGBC.
He was selected by Rotary district 3200 as Group study exchange member to tour select parts of Europe to showcase the cultural nuances of Kerala. This was a completely funded project and George Mathai was part of a four member team comprising of eminent professionals from various walks of life.
He is recipient of the IIA Best worker award and numerous other professional recognitions. He won the Kerala chapter IIA Gold leaf award for excellence in Architecture in the Institutional category in year 2016.
In year 2016, George Mathai launched the educational initiative, Terrafirm Global Academy, responding to the national agenda of equipping a young task force through the skill India Mission. He is member of various boards and organizations across various spectrums.
He is the Chairman and Managing Director- Terrafirm Projects P Ltd, Chairman - CAP-F, a motivational and think tank group addressing issues of the young generation, Managing trustee -, Terrafirm charitable foundation, Founder Chairman - Terrafirm Global Academy, Trustee - Nedumchalil Trust hospital, Trustee - Vattasseril Mar Dionaysius home, a relief home for the aged and homeless.
He is member of the Inspectors team of the Council of Architecture, mandated to verify academic standards of educational institutions imparting architectural education in India. George Mathai is Professor, Design Chair at department of Architecture, KMEA College of Engineering, Kochi. An avid reader of philosophy, academician and orator, he is a regular invited speaker at various forums and jury member for design studios of numerous architectural schools.
Minna George graduated in Economics from St.Teresa’s College, Kochi, M.G University.She is the director of Terrafirm Projects Pvt Ltd, a firm focusing on Architecture, Landscape and Interior design consulting and director of CAP-F, a motivational and think tank group addressing issues of the young generation. She is a trustee of CVJ Foundation, the CSR arm of the Synthite group. Minna is also the coordinator for the Kochi activities of Dr. Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), alumni of the Haggai Institute, Maui, Hawaii. She is an active social worker involved in a range of charitable projects while also deeply involved in the financial and administrative functions of Terrafirm .
